AFC Fylde Women are gearing up for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday when they welcome Darlington Women to Kellamergh Park.

This Third Round Qualifying tie takes place on Sunday 13th October, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.

The Coasters are determined to go as far as possible in this historic competition, starting with a challenging home tie against Darlington Women.

As a fourth-tier club, AFC Fylde Women enter the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the final qualifying stage before the First Round Proper, which will then be played in the first weekend of November. The Coasters are eager to make up for last season’s disappointment when they exited the competition at the first hurdle with a narrow 1-0 loss to Durham Cestria.

As for their next cup opponents, Shaun Mackenzie’s Darlington side compete in the Durham County Women’s League Division One, which represents level seven of the women’s football pyramid.

The Quaker Women have made an impressive start to the season with three wins out of their opening four league games. The most recent of those victories came last weekend when Darlington ran out 6-1 winners at home to Newton Aycliffe Women on an afternoon that featured four goals from their top goalscorer Lily Wilkinson.

To reach this stage of the competition, Darlington first had to progress through two earlier rounds. After beating GT7 Ladies FC 3-1 at the start of September, the Quaker Women travelled to Cumbria three weeks later for an away tie at Whitehaven AFC Ladies. That match produced a six-goal thriller at the County Ground, which was finally decided by penalties as Darlington won 3-2 in the shootout.

Following a positive week on the training ground, Fylde will show no signs of complacency when they entertain the Quaker Women on home soil. While the Club continues to search for a new head coach, goalkeeper coach Justin Mcleod will remain in temporary charge for this Sunday’s cup tie.

As both Fylde men’s and women’s teams are in cup action this weekend, supporters who buy a ticket for the men’s game at Mill Farm on Saturday can also gain free entry to the women’s game at Kellamergh Park on Sunday. Supporters simply need to show their ticket upon arrival to benefit from this offer.
